Two key patterns to master
Grammar
이 / 가 — subject particle
이 after a consonant, 가 after a vowel. It marks the subject of the sentence.
이게 뭐예요?What is this?
사과가 있어요.There is an apple.
이것 / 저것 / 그것 — this / that / it
이것 (this, near speaker), 저것 (that, far from both), 그것 (that, near listener).
이것은 책이에요.This is a book.
저것은 가방이에요.That is a bag.
